National Senior Citizens Day was established on August 21, 1988, when President Ronald Reagan signed Proclamation 5847. “Throughout our history, older people have achieved much for our families, our communities, and our country. That remains true today, and gives us ample reason to reserve a special day in honor of the senior citizens who mean so much to our land,” Reagan proclaimed. “For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute.”
When seniors leave their homes and neighborhoods to move into assisted living communities they risk giving up parts of their identity. Your house, neighborhood, favorite park, and the restaurant you frequent are all pieces of your identity. They help shape who you are, and you develop strong connections with them. Valley Senior Living, a non-profit in Grand Forks, ND, is constantly looking for ways to improve the experience for its residents. Widseth has had the pleasure to work on multiple projects across all of Valley's facilities for 18 years. We value this relationship and look forward to the next 18 years! Here's a small sample of some of the work we've done for Valley Senior Living.
