It's amazing what you can do with 100 popsicle sticks, glue, paper, and a creative mind. Forestview Middle School students were recently put to the test in a STEM class called Bridge Design and Building taught by Mr. & Mrs. Danielson. The three-week class challenges students to research, design, and build a bridge out of popsicle sticks. At the end of the class, bridges are judged on aesthetics and strength.
For the past three years, Widseth architects and engineers have volunteered their time to help students understand how bridges are designed and built, offering suggestions during the design and construction process. We also help facilitate the weight test, which is very exciting for the students. They get a chance to see how their bridges perform under intense stress. Some bridges held nearly 100 pounds! We're proud of our partnership with Forestview Middle School and the opportunity to provide hands-on learning.
