Assistance to Firefighters Grants
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders obtain equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards. The primary goal of the AFG is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Service organizations.
Grants are available for fire departments, nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Service organizations, and State Fire Training Academies.
Funding assistance is provided through grants. AFG provides grants of 95% with a local match of 5%.
