The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program was started to enable children to walk and bicycle to school in a safe environment and to encourage them to make active and healthy lifestyle choices from an early age. Widseth's funding department can assist you in submitting a competitive funding application.
If your community has a project in mind for children to get to school, consider applying for an Infrastructure Grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).

SRTS funding is available to a broad spectrum of groups that represent students. Eligible groups include, but are not limited to:
Design Assistance Grant (NEW!)MnDOT, in response to feedback from rural communities citing engineering costs as a hurdle for infrastructure projects, has launched a new program. The Design Assistant Grant provides funding for engineering studies that can then be used for infrastructure grants.
